Arts without Boundaries inspires Senior High
Many students at Senior do a lot of volunteering work, but a few Broncs participate in
a program that pays and is volunteer based. This program is the Arts Without Boundaries
program. For many years the Arts Without Boundaries has taught students how to help
others. Billings Senior High is one of many schools who have students who is involved
 in this program.
Juniors Alex Fettig and Abigail Hammang are two of many students who take time to help
out younger students. “The arts without boundaries program is more of an educational
program where students tutor students, expanding their learning,” stated Fettig. Hammang
described the program as “Helping children and teaching them how to play music.”
“Becoming a mentor is really easy. All you have to do is talk to your teachers or the
Arts Without Boundaries program.” Hammang explained that she “Went to a meeting and
signed up for it. I started by going to the meeting and contacting the children's parents.”
Fettig, on the other hand, explains more of the process of getting in to the program. He stated,
“You have to go through a training class. After the class you have to sign a lot of papers. I
started the program last year because of Mr. Long”
In the Arts without Boundaries program, mentors can pretty much tutor in any thing. For
both Fettig and Hammang they teach younger students how to play their instrument of
choice. Fettig teaches how to play the miraculous and beautiful trumpet. Hammang teach
her students how to play the stunning trombone. “The arts program is mostly volunteering,
but at the end of March you receive a hundred dollars. I am not sure how we get paid
whether it goes to our band account or if we get handed the money,” stated Hammang.
Fettig explained, “I do not know how much we get paid. The money does, however, go
 to a scholarship fund account.”
Many students will tutor more than one child at a time. “There is no set limit for how
many kids you can have. I have three trumpet kids and I am also doing my own tutoring
from home,” stated Fettig. Some student will only tutor a child depending on their free time.
Hammang explained, “The number of children that you tutor depends on the teacher.”
It really depends on how much a person is willing to give up some time to spend with the
children.

These amazing students can be caught after school in the band room waiting eagerly to teach
 child a new trick.
