Military students

We have some amazing students at Senior High that want to join the military. Two of these students include Jackson Newby, a senior, and Michael Rigdon, a junior. Newby stated that “I want to join the Marine Corps two years from now.” Rigdon on the other hand Stated that “I want to join the army.I will join as soon as I’m given orders.” What these two want to do for our country is something that can't even be put into words.
Each branch of the military has their own way of convincing students to join. They also have  little trinkets that they give out. In one you have to do pushups, and in others you might have to do bullet press’. Rigdon stated “ I want to defend the country. My brother also did, so why not follow in his footsteps.” Each  students has their own reasons for joining their branch of service. Newby Exclaimed “I have family in the Marines and they have better benefits than other services.”
Almost every week, one branch of the military comes to encourage students to join in protecting our country. Newby stated “ I talk to the military occasionally when they come.” This takes guts just to walk up to one of the commanders that stand by Officer Hilliards door. Rigdon claimed “I talk to them just about every time they come.
It takes a lot to join the military. Newby exclaimed that “to get into the Navy you need high peak physical fitness, you can't have a felony, and you need lots of determination.” To get into the army you need a high level of endurance, and  you need to pass the ASVAB with at least a 31 if you want to be active duty. “I wanted to join the navy, but I realized that the ASVAB was hard. They required a high score,” stated Rigdon. Most students will stick to the military service that they first choose to join. Newby claimed “  I never want to join another branch of the military. I have some amazing family members in the marines.”
You have the option to join the military in either the reserves or  active duty. The reserves are where you will train but don't go into battle until you are needed. Active duty is where you train and then go straight into battle. Newby Exclaimed “ I will be going on active duty. It's the only way I can serve. I want to earn the H.O.G (Hunter of gunman.).” It is also possible to be in both the reserves and active duty. “I plan to do part reserves until go active. Timing is a big part of it. While in the army I will be doing mechanics,” Exclaimed Rigdon
In conclusion, take time to thank any student that is going to be in the military. Those students will be risking their lives to protect the country that you live in.
